The design cues and color palette of the temple are inspired by the blues, purples, golds and greens of surrounding flora and fauna, such as wildflowers, marsh grass, reeds and the snowy egrets. Guests of all ages are invited to free public open houses that are held for newly constructed and renovated temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The exterior of the temple is eight-inch-thick beige concrete made in Salt Lake County by Forterra. The spire is glass fiber reinforced concrete by Unlimited Design in Salt Lake City. The structure of the building is steel with concrete shear walls and concrete floor slabs. A decorative band that wraps around the exterior of the temple includes a mountain design, and Utah Lake wetlands and snowy egrets are represented on the metal panels. Prevalent in the temple are depictions of local flora and fauna including the iris, daisy and chrysanthemum, which are common wildflowers in the area; and birds, reeds and mountains that can all be seen nearby at Utah Lake. The temple will be dedicated in three sessions, by President Henry B. Eyring, who will preside at the dedication.

Eyring, second counselor in the governing First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is scheduled to dedicate the temple Aug. 13. Elder Kevin R. Duncan, a General Authority Seventy and executive director of the church’s Temple Department, said this open house is longer than usual to allow as many people as possible to come and see. The public walk-through is one of multiple open houses being hosted by the church this year, and it's one that's been both much-anticipated and sometimes-maligned by Saratoga Springs residents. Other significant rooms inside the temple include the sealing room and the celestial room. The sealing room is where couples and families have the opportunity to be sealed together not only for time, but for all eternity. The stained glass, which was created by Holdman Studios in Lehi, depicts Utah Lake, the nearby mountains and local birds. He said church architects reached out to local architects and designers to help establish the motifs that are seen throughout the temple. Elder Duncan currently serves as executive director of the church's Temple Department, overseeing temples around the world. He said church leaders extended the temple open house to last longer than usual because of the high demand, and they hope continuing it into the summer will allow people to visit multiple times and bring friends.
